The Non-Chemical Solution to Your Pest Infestation in Skokie, IL
Pests thrive under even extraordinary conditions. That’s why it’s often thought that the only way to eliminate them from a property is to use harsh chemicals. However, we at Midwest Freeze Dry believed that homeowners and business owners deserved an effective, environmentally-safe, and non-toxic option. That’s why we utilized our technology to develop a non-chemical solution. Contact us today for help with your pest infestation in Skokie, IL, and beyond.
The Development Process
Our team sought to find a method for eliminating pests that meet these four requirements:
Kill All Three Stages of Life:
- Use No Chemicals in the Process
- Produce No Toxins to be Released into the Environment
- Leave No Process Residue on the Materials Treated
- Eggs, Larvae, and Adults
We chose three insects to test on, the Rice Weevil, the Indian Meal Moth, and the Red Flour Beetle. These insects, which affect stored grain and other products, are more resistant than those which normally infest books, textiles, museum collections, and furniture. Thus, if our non-chemical pest control method destroyed the grain insects, then the less resistant insects would meet the same fate.
During testing, the eggs, larvae, adults were treated at our site using our proprietary non-chemical method. Upon removal from the chamber, all insects had been killed. For independent verification, we sent eggs and larvae that we treated back to the supplier (Insect Limited Incorporated) to test for any further development or hatching. They confirmed that none occurred and that all stages of the insects were killed. We had achieved a 100% kill rate.
Pest Infestation
The need for a cost effective, non-chemical solution to pest infestation in today’s world is greater than ever before. Midwest Freeze Dry has developed just such a solution using their methods to provide environmentally-safe, non-toxic pest control.
The Problem
Find a method for eliminating pest infestation where four requirements would be met: 1.) Kill all three stages of life; eggs, larvae and adult, 2.) Use no chemicals in the process, 3.) Produce no toxins to be released into the environment, and 4.) Leave no process residue on the materials treated.
Three Resistant Specimens
We chose three insects for the problems they cause in the stored product industry. The Rice Weevil, the Indian Meal Moth and the Red Flour Beetle. These insects which affect stored grain and other products are more resistant than those which normally infest books, textiles, museum collections and furniture. The effectiveness of the proprietary non-chemical method on these resistant, grain insects would become our guideline. If our method destroyed the grain insects, then the less resistant insects would meet the same fate.
The Tests
Tests were conducted at Midwest Freeze-Dry, Ltd. to prove the success of our non-chemical treatment for insect pest control. The insects tested were the Sitophilus oryza (Rice Weevil), Plodia interpunctella (Indian Meal Moth), and Tribolium castaneum (Red Flour Beetle).
The eggs, larvae, adults we obtained were treated using our proprietary non-chemical method. Upon removal from the chamber all insects had been killed. For independent verification, eggs and larvae that we treated were sent back to the supplier to test for any further development or hatching.
The Results
Insects Limited Incorporated tested for any further development or hatching and confirmed that none occurred and all stages of the insects were killed. We had acheived a 100% kill rate.
